The world’s Fashionistas are on the edge of their front-row seats
about what Massenet’s next project may be. Her new company is
called Imaginary Ventures, but little is known about what it will do.
The Los Angeles-born former fashion editor and Tatler journalist
is best known for founding the online retailer Net-a-Porter in 2000
from a Chelsea flat, where her bath served as a stock cupboard.
Massenet, 52 on Saturday, sold a £50m stake in the operation to
the Swiss group Richemont in 2010 but reinvested £15m in the
business, making an £85m profit when she sold the holding in
spring 2015. She was made a dame in the 2016 n ew y ear h onours

SIMON MORAN

To hear that legendary concert promot er Moran, 51, described as
the “most influential music executive of the Noughties”, would be
co-managing another bestselling act in 2016 would surprise few
in the industry. To hear it was Rick Astley would. After 23 years
in retirement, the Never Gonna Give You Up singer topped the
charts with his comeback album and Moran promoted his recent

UK tour. Moran’s Manchester-based SJM Concerts co-owns the
V festival and T in the Park, put ting on about 2,000 gigs a year. Its

SHARAN PASRICHA

Indian-born entrepreneur Pasricha took over the Gleneagles golf
resort in July 2015 in a deal said to be worth up to £200m. Since
1924 the five-star venue in Perthshire has hosted the Ryder Cup
and G8 summits, and is home to Scotland’s only restaurant with
two Michelin stars. Pasricha, 36, also owns the Hoxton chain of
boutique hotels, two of which are in London, and his Ennismore
International Management firm is worth £40m. He is married to
the daughter of Indian telecoms tycoon Sunil Mittal. New entry

Founded by former bank clerk Wright in 1983, Burton-on-Trent-
based Riviera Tours primarily operates excursions, river cruises
and short breaks. Phoenix Equity Partners took a majority stake
in 2014 through a deal valued at up to £130m. Wright, 60, retains
a “significant” share and remains on the board. Assets in Buster
Jimmy, the company that receives the family’s dividends from its
remaining stake, stood at £123.7m in 2015. 2016: £125m, 799=

Mumbai-born artist Kapoor, 63, who came to the UK in the 1970s,
bought a £10.6m property in 2016 at 56 Leonard Street, the New
York skyscraper likened to a Jenga t ower. He is best known for
the Orbit sculpture in London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
His White Dark company has paid £23m in dividends in the past
seven years and he owns a Chelsea home. 2016: £130m, 766=

CHRISTOPHER DUNCAN

Chard-based Numatic International is best known for the
endearing features of Henry the vacuum cleaner. Founded in
1969, it makes at least 4,000 products a day. Duncan, 77, once
reflected with some pride on Henry and its siblings, including
Hetty and Charles , that there were “seven million of the little
buggers out there”. The company expanded in the 1990s, setting
up operations in France and South Africa. 2016: £103m, 985=

Edwards, 66, was born into a “fairground family” and worked on
the markets during the winter off-season. He began Poundworld
in 1974 as a Wakefield market stall selling household goods and it
now has more than 300 stores stocking 10,000 pr oducts. His son
Chris Jr, 34, began working alongside his father at 15. The family
sold a majority stake for £150m in 2015. 2016: £130m, 766=
