LET THY FOOD
BE THY MEDICINE
The Australian
native superfood
treating Alzheimer’s
The kakadu plum, a little native
plum grown in the north of
Australia, has the highest natural
source of vitamin C of any plant in
the world as well as superior
antioxidant properties, leading
researchers to believe that it could be
one of the most powerful treatments
for Alzheimer’s disease. Tahlia Mandie,
founder of Kadadu Plum Co, is making
it her personal mission to make more
Australians aware of this exceptional bush
tucker. Tahlia says, “Australia actually has the most
original superfoods and oldest foods on earth, that
have been used for thousands of years, and yet, so many
Australians are not aware.” Check out Kakadu Plum’s range

Australia’s first lentil beer has been
released by a craft brewery in the
Adelaide Hills. Only 3500 bottles
and two kegs of Lobethal Bierhaus’
Lentil Pale Ale are part of the
first run, but the brewery sees
the creation of the earthy
flavoured brew as a step towards
producing a gluten-free craft beer.

SOUTH COAST

YOGA IN THE PARK

For the past two years, south coast-based yoga
teacher Tanya Smith has been running yoga classes
at the Killalea State Park on the beautiful south
coast of NSW. The gold coin donation class (which
goes back to the park) started with a small group of
eight keen yogis, and now attracts more than 200
souls showing up to share a practice every week.
Tanya credits the success of the class to “a focus on
doing less rather than more, taking time to find
stillness, breathe more deeply, move more gently
and gaze at the beautiful view of the water”.
