Body confidence is a hot topic right now.
How to get it. How to keep it. And how
to love the skin you’re in, no matter what
size or shape you happen to be. Right
around the world, the body positivity
movement is having a major moment.
And if you ask me, that’s a great thing.
As women, we’re so often our harshest
critics, wishing we had smaller thighs/
bigger boobs/less cellulite. Sound
familiar? There’s not a woman alive
who hasn’t had a fat day, or compared
themselves to someone else. But what’s
encouraging is how the conversation is
gradually starting to shift. We’re realising
strong (both mentally and physically)
is so much more important than skinny.
And that the only judge of a woman’s

body should be the owner of that body.
Something that’s worth keeping in mind
as we slowly learn to shut down the
negative self-talk many of us grapple with.
In the face of all this, how do women
around the world really feel about their
bodies, today? In a quest for answers,
we joined forces with every edition of
Women’s Health around the world (from
South Africa to Sweden) to ask that
very question. And as you’ll read from
p84, the results are real, refreshing and
100 per cent honest. But that’s not all.
In honour of WH’s first Global Naked
Campaign, one of the biggest TV stars
in the world, Sofía Vergara, agreed to
strip down and talk frankly about fitness,
her 40s and owning what she sees in the
mirror. Read our candid chat with her
from p78. Yes, she eats doughnuts (but
not every day). Yes, she dreads the gym.
But she’s not changing for anybody!
Want to flick your own positivity
switch? Feel stronger and fitter with one
of our most stripped-back workouts ever:
think minimum equipment, max exercise
and energy results (p110). Get your sweat
on with high-tech fitness gear so good it
will feel like you’re wearing nothing at all
(p70). Nourish your skin from the inside
out with the new beauty superfoods
(p57), and eat clean with nude food that’s
healthy, whole and delicious – including
four totally irresistible desserts (p134)!
Until next month, enjoy the issue and
remember one thing: it’s good to be you!
