autographs as part of the collection. Sketch and art

cards should be a sure thing as licensing has already

approved their use in the series. This will be the first

RRParks release to feature sketch cards. Die-cut genuine

film-used costume prop cards are also in the works with

original costumes IN HAND now. True fans will also

enjoy special limited edition metal cards as an extra

bonus. “Our plan,” says Parks, “is to utilize the great

folks at Faerie Metal for this. [They] have done special

metal cards for Chronicles of the Three Stooges, the 1959

Three Stooges Reprint series, The Three Stooges Theater,

Chronicles of The Grim Reaper, and Basil Wolverton II:

Wolverton’s Women).”

According to Parks, the project is being planned as a

retail wax pack box release, similar to his Chronicles of The

Three Stooges Series 1, 2 & 3 products. Each box should

contain 36 10-card packs with random chase card inser-

tions. “Steve at Nationwide Carton, the guy responsible for

the wonderful boxes used for Chronicles of The Three Stooges

Series 1, 2, and 3, has been tweaking a die-cut template for

MST3K boxes,” said an ebullient Parks.

An album will not be available per-se as the manufac-

turer has rather strong feelings in this area. “Personally,

I am not a fan of expensive and dedicated binders/

albums,” Parks confirmed. “Instead, my plan to create

‘binder insert’ sets so that collectors can use their own

binders and insert both an official cover and spine into

binders of their choice. This keeps production costs

lower, keeps the cost of the series to collectors lower so

they can afford other card series, and provides collec-

tors a flexibility with regards to what binders they use

while at the same time having ‘official album’ parts in

their collections.”

With all the work and ideas Richard Parks is putting into

this series, it’s easy to see that for him, at least, there is no

mystery to this science. NSU

16 Non-Sport Update

N

etflix has fixed the universe by bringing

new episodes of Mystery Science

Theater 3000 to hungry MSTies

everywhere. According to Shout!

Factory rep, Sarah J. De Bruin, series creator

Joel Hodgson serves as a writer, director and

executive producer on the new season. The

show features a new host, new Mads, and, of

course, new cheesy movies to riff. In the new

season of MST3K, Kinga Forrester (Felicia Day)

and her loyal henchman, Max (Patton Oswalt),

have revived the infamous experiment started

by Kinga’s father twenty-nine years earlier:

How many cheesy movies does it take to drive

a person mad? In this latest reiteration of the

show, her test subject is Jonah Heston (Jonah

Ray), a space pilot for Gizmonic Institute who

gets trapped responding to a distress call from

the dark side of the moon. Confined aboard

the Satellite of Love, Jonah lives with his robot

friends, Gypsy (voiced by Rebecca Hanson),

Tom Servo (voiced by Baron Vaughn), and Crow

T. Robot (voiced by Hampton Yount). Returning

cast members include Bill Corbett, who joins

the new season as a guest writer and will have

a guest appearance as his character, Brain Guy.

Kevin Murphy makes a guest appearance in

Season 11 as his character, Professor Bobo,

and Mary Jo Pehl joins as a guest writer and

for a guest appearance as her character, Pearl

Forrester.

As far as including the rebooted show in their

card sets, RRParks CARDS confirms that subset

coverage of Netflix’s Season 11 and beyond will

begin in series two of Mystery Science Theater

3000 trading cards.
