here’s a Barneys New York on
the Strip, and a Momofuku
in The Cosmopolitan hotel.
The giant Ferris wheel is big-
ger than the London Eye and the shop-
ping is on the cutting edge of luxury. The
city reads like a slice of New York,
mashed with Hollywood, London and
Paris. But, make no mistake; this is
Vegas, baby, and it’s a place like no other.
This shiny mirage of a city is sited
on the Mojave Desert floor in Nevada,
which explains the long, hot summers.
Sure enough, it’s 47 degrees Celsius
when our fashion team lands on loca-
tion. With no time or energy to waste,
they focus their adventure on the
old-school spirit Downtown as well as
the super-sleek offerings on Las Vegas
Boulevard, aka the Strip.
Tara Morris, our junior fashion
editor sums up the city as “a giant
theme park for adults.” She says, “It’s
everything you could ever want, all
in one hit”. The key to enjoying Vegas
is to let the buzz take hold. The city
may be engineered for tourist consump-
tion but under the neon lights, you have
to admire the commitment with which
it is devoured.
