Street Machine Australia — June 2017

(WallPaper) #1

We featured Clint Kelly’s flawless LJ Torana coupe when it was running a
seriously tough Holden six, but he’s stepped up to an LS, and it’s one of the
neatest conversions we’ve come across. The judges agreed, awarding the car
Top Engine Compartment, Top Coupe (Street Car), and a spot in the Top 10

When Dean Patterson’s ZC Fairlane
TYRH8R winds up, it is an aural delight.
Dean was declared Overall Burnout
Champion in the N/A class, with the
Powerhouse-built, dry-sumped 370ci
Windsor turning all the way to 8500rpm

6: Todd Bulkeley’s Datsun 1600 coupe is
an absolute knockout, and it continues to
garner accolades wherever it goes. Top
Coupe (Show Car), Top Interior and Top
Undercarriage trophies were added to the
cabinet this time around. Keep an eye out for
a full feature in SM soon!

7: John Spinks has owned this clinically
clean LX Torana hatch for well over two
decades. In that time it has undergone
numerous rebuilds, gradually morphing from
a small-block Chev-powered pro streeter
into a stunning pro touring powerhouse
running a 383ci Holden V8, topped by eight-
throttlebody EFI

8: How Michael Brown relentlessly treats
his Rambler Hornet like this and yet keeps
it in trophy-winning shape is beyond us. It
was judged Top Sedan (Show Car), and also
landed in the Top 10 cars of the event
