What should I check
in my set-up?
Toe strikes are often the result
when we have too much weight in
the toes; during the swing we have
to straighten up to find balance, a
move that pulls the hands in
towards the body. Make sure your
weight is under your laces. Also
watch for any tendency to aim
right (right-handers). You’ll have
to pull the club in, across the line,
to swing it towards the target...
again, inviting the toe strike.

Finish your
swing in balance
Work on your balance at the end
of the swing. It’s very common for
toe strikers to finish off-balance,
either falling forwards or back as
they fail to shift weight effectively.
It’s one of golf’s oldest tips but if
you simply commit to holding
your finish on your lead foot and
trail toe cap until the ball lands, it
can have a really positive effect
on what went on before.

How should I
adjust my swing?
The key is to maintain posture as
you swing down and through. This
helps you find a more neutral path
and a more centred strike. To
achieve this, feel your hands are
lower coming into impact before
releasing the club upward, the
clubhead up to head-high while
your hands are below your waist.
This low-to-high feel with your
hands will help you stay down
over the ball through impact.
