Scale Aviation Modeller International – April 2019

(Romina) #1

I

’ve been wanting to build
a Mitchell for a while
now, and I hope that this
kit will satisfy that itch.
On opening the box, you will
be more than pleased with the
amount of parts included. I
have to give a special mention
to the clear parts. They were
the clearest I’ve yet seen from
Airix, and they also feature
slightly raised window frames.
This was especially helpful
in my attempt to mask of the
windows myself. There is a
lot of detail inside this kit, and
these clear parts will show it
of nicely. The kit features a
fully detailed open bomb bay,
and it’s so nicely done it would
be a shame to have it closed

up; yes, I regret my decision.
Decal options are really the
only down side to this kit in
my opinion. The irst option is
‘Lady Jane’ based out of Tampa
Bay Florida, it was used in anti-
submarine patrols. This scheme
is featured on the box art and
boasts blue-grey underside
with a green upper surface,
and dark green splotches. The
second option is for the ‘Desert
Warrior’. This aircraft was part
of a group of B-25’s stationed
around the Mediterranean.
in the early days of the US
involvement in the War and
they were concerned about
ighting alongside their
Allies, potentially causing
damage to each other. The

solution was resolved when
RCAF radio operators joined
in with the US crews. Since
the Canadians knew the

other allies in the area, they
would be able to guide the
American crews to their target
and avoid friendly ire.
