Scale Aviation Modeller International – April 2019

(Romina) #1

W

ell after last month’s
bumper Nuremberg
News, it’s no
surprise that this month there
isn’t quite so much news from
the Czech Republic, but there
is always something new!
Who would have thought
there would ever be a 1/72
scale injection moulded kit
of the Bristol Bombay? It’s
also good to see that the 1/72

scale Special Hobby Short
Sunderland should be available
by the time you read this.
There certainly does seem to
be a real resurgence of kits in
this scale which got myself and
I am sure many of us hooked
on this great hobby of ours.
As ever if you would
like your company to be
featured, please drop us a
line to the editorial email.

From Tempest to Tornado

EDUARD

A

pril sees four releases
from Eduard. First up in
1/72 scale is the ProiPack
Edition Spitire HF Mk.VIII,
which features the pointy wing
tips of this high lying variant,
I must confess to liking my
Spitires with clipped wings.
The remaining three releases
are in 1/48 scale. In the Weekend
Line we have the Bf109 E-4. As
a ProiPack Edition we have the
Fw190A-8 and in the Limited-
Edition line we can look forward
to the Tornado F.3 ADV, this latter
kit is a reboxing of the Revell
tooling and features ive markings

options four of which feature
commemorative tail art. With
the retirement of the last version
from RAF service I can see this
limited-edition kit selling out fast,
so if you are a fan of the mighty
in, get your pre-order in quick!
As ever this really has only
scratched the surface of the
Eduard releases, as the etch,
masks and Brassin ranges
continue to expand with
some amazing accessories
to enhance your models.

AZ MODELS

T

his month sees some
welcome 1/72 scale reissues
from AZ Models, irst up
is the Supermarine Seafang, the
ultimate Spitire? Another rare
variant is the Spitire Mk.IX UTI, a
Russian designed two seat version.
Moving forward we have the
more modern Zlin Z-242L, this is

rereleased with markings options
for military operated aircraft. The
Bf109G-3 also makes a reappearance
and last but not least, one I missed
irst time around, the Hansa
Brandenburg B.1. The markings in
this kit include two quite colourful
post First World War aircraft, one
in Czechoslovak service and one in
Yugoslav service in the early 1920s.
