at BOAT International that we need to quieten the noise and harness what
we do best. That is why in this issue we have focused on storytelling,
celebrating those on the front line of ocean conservation, from the first
female PADI instructor in the Maldives to the scientists developing micro-
algae for use in the rapidly expanding aquaculture sector – just two of the
winners of this year’s Ocean Awards (page 70). We hope you find their stories
- and those of the other winners – as inspiring as we did. The superyacht
industry is also quietly making strides in this area, producing boats that are
greener, more efficient and less wasteful than ever before. On the cover this
month is the first Wider 165, Cecilia, which has been built with an exacting
eye on her environmental impact. And with no comfort spared.
