Magic Planet
Ask any kid and they’ll tell you a visit to

the mall wouldn’t be complete without
popping into Magic Planet. Spread over

two floors, this centre houses rides and
activities for all ages. Some of its bigger

attractions include 12-alley, ten-pin

bowling lane, a gravity trampoline for
budding acrobats and the Magic Circuit.

There’s also a massive soft-play area for
the little ones, pool tables, a merry-go-

round, bumper cars and more. Phew.
O From Dhs105. Open daily 10am-2am, Sun-Wed

10am-10pm, Thu-Fri 10am-midnight. Mall of the

Emirates, magicplanetmena.com (04 341 4444).

Physical education is as important as opening

those books, and the Olympic-sized Dubai

Ice Rink has so many awesome features,
including snowfall sessions, ice bikes and

even disco sessions where it transforms into a
dancefloor.

There’s also the Academy, which runs
seasonally and gives kids the opportunity to

become certified skaters.

O From Dhs49. Open Sun-Wed 10am-midnight, Thu-Sat
10am-1am. The Dubai Mall, Mohammed Bin Rashid

Boulevard, dubaiicerink.com.

Dubai Performing Arts Academy
If the kids are fascinated by what they see on

Britain’s Got Talent and would like to impress

Simon Cowell someday, you could sign them
up for singing, dancing, drama, private

singing, contemporary, street dance and more
at Dubai Performing Arts Academy.

Founded by former Steps pop group
member Lisa Scott-Lee and her husband

Johnny, this centre is based on the couple’s

industry know-how. With Lisa’s record-
breaking pop days and Johnny, who has

worked with stars such as Robbie Williams
and Diana Ross, your kids will become stars

in no time.
O From Dhs750 (per week). Dubai British School,

Jumeirah Park, dubaiperformingarts.com

(04 424 5195).

Fairytales
Indoor play dreams do come true, and if you

don’t believe us – just check out Fairytales. It
may not be the largest play centre in Dubai,

but it sure takes the cake when it comes to

whimsical interiors.
A princess castle and a pirate ship need

little imaginations to come and bring them
to life. For younger kids, the bedtime story

charm will encourage actual engagement
with the environment rather than simply

“Indoor play

dreams do

come true”

Funky Monkeys Playland

running around and yelling, which is probably
something you’ll want for them this summer.

There are also plenty of workshops to sign

the kids up for, including slime and water play,
some of which may take place outside of the

centre at other locations.
O Dhs700 (one month membership, first child). Daily

10am-10pm. Town Centre Jumeirah, Jumeirah Beach
Road, Jumeirah 1, fairytales.ae (04 344 5050).

Funky Monkeys Playland
At this play area, you’ll find the kids sliding

into massive ball pools, crawling through

aerial assault courses or just banging their
heads against padded crashmats for an hour

or two. Isn’t that what having fun is about for
little ones, anyway?

There’s a loose jungle theme at this
Sheikh Zayed Road facility, lending it a slight
