November 25: The Chairman of Eurogroup, Luxembourg’s Prime Minister and
Chancellor of the Exchequer Jean-Claude Juncker, the President of the
European Central Bank, Jean-Claude Trichet, and the European Commission’s
Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs, Joaquin Almunia, kicked off
a two-day visit to China.
November 26: In Beijing, China and France signed theAgreement between the
Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Republic
of France Concerning Reciprocal Promotion and Protection of Investmentsand the
China-France Joint Declaration for Addressing Climate Change.
November 28: Chinese President Hu Jintao met with JoséSocrates, Prime
Minister of Portugal—rotating EU presidency—and the President of the
European Commission, JoséManuel Barroso who attended the 10th China-EU
Summit in Beijing.
▲The 10th China-EU Summit was held in Beijing. The two sides released a
joint declaration. They agreed on a vice-premier-level China-EU high-level
economic and trade dialogue mechanism to be established by the State Council
of China and the European Commission, and signed theEuropean Investment
Bank Climate Change Framework Loan Agreement, theJoint Declaration of the
China-EU School of Law Programand theJoint Declaration of the China-EU
Business Management Training Program.
November 29: The European Commission released a communiqué entitled
EU-China Summit: All-round Partnershipwith respect to the 10th China-EU
Leaders’Meeting in Brussels, and spoke highly of the achievements made at the
meeting.
2008
January 18: British Prime Minister Gordon Brown kicked off a three-day official
visit to China. Chinese President Hu Jintao met with Gordon Brown. The two sides
reached important consensuses on various issues concerning bilateral and multi-
lateralfields and signed 8 cooperation documents covering education, energy, etc.
February 27: China and Germany signed the 2007 Technological Cooperation
Agreement between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the
Government of the German Federal Republicin Beijing.
