guidelines you have sketched out for the im-
mediate future?
Well talking about sailing yachts, I have to start from a concept I
mentioned earlier : Perini is Perini. When someone comes up to you
and says “I have a Perini” you don’t have to try to understand what
he’s got: It is surely big, very comfortable, it’s got sails and it’s usually
blue. If on the other hand he were to say any other name then you
would have to conjure up a whole set of additional questions to
understand what it is that he’s got. That’s to say we’ve had a marvel-
lous guide line in terms of sailing yachts for years. And it’s the best
you can imagine. Sure enough we have to do this and that to it so
as to be always contemporary when not at the forefront that is. For
example talking of practical things, we’ve recently spent considerable
time on developing the stern area with a view to bring life on board

is always fundamental. Accrued energy directed to the product, and
the same to the market. I’m very happy and very focused. Evidently,
as much of this can be seen, I can instil that sort of motivation and
much needed stimulation of which there’s never enough. Sure, just
like any trainer can, I am responsible for the choices to be made, they
can be likeable or not. But luckily, Perini is really a great company. Im-
agine there are eight people that have been working here for more
than thirty years. In many ways Perini reminds me of those shipyards
I came across when I was young, those places where people were
keen, where there was pride and passion.
Since you mentioned ‘when you were young’
which are the values you have drawn from
during those ‘early’ times?
This is a question which underscores the fact I am not so young
anymore. You see, I was lucky enough to grow or better to be raised
by important shipbuilders. Norberto Ferretti, Tilli Antonelli, Cataldo
Aprea with his planing ‘gozzo’ and others. Each one of them crafted
a piece of yachting history. How can I forget Carlo Riva with whom
I shared a great passion for large boats? Nor can I forget my pleads
with Norberto whom I exhorted to purchase CRN.
I’d say that from each of the people I mentioned and from their way

sense of responsibility.
So with all of that in mind, which are the
