This spring, London’s Royal Academy of Arts

will be exploring one of the pivotal periods in

the history of western painting – the Venetian

Renaissance – from a highly original angle.

In the Age of Giorgione will celebrate the

work of one of the most enigmatic artists of

the period, alongside masterpieces by Titian,

Dürer and more. Together these important

works chart the development of the idealised

beauty, expressive force and sensuous use

of colour that we recognise today as the

hallmarks of Venetian Renaissance painting.

12 March to 5 June at the Royal Academy of
