Paint each petal to

suggest the character

of the hydrangea

No w I block in the middle values. I use Cerulean Blue,

Ultramarine Blue and grey for the blue hydrangeas.

To create more dimension I add some reflected lights on

the flowers. Then I paint the design on the vase.

For the final touch on the vase I glaze a thin shadow with

Payne's Grey and add the white highlights.

When everything is blocked in, I work on the light effect. I

started with a mass for the flower; now I define the petals.
