AGENDA

INTERNATIONAL

PETER FISCHLI AND DAVID WEISS
The Guggenheim’s outgoing curator Nancy
Spector —who, five years ago, hung Maurizio
Cattelan’s body of work from the building’s
ceiling—presents a non-linear exhibition of the
Swiss duo, whose quirky, DIY vision increases
with significance and charm as it ages (the
collaboration ended in 2012, when Weiss died).
The show is packed with hundreds of works,
with a public component in SoHo and Times
Square. To Apr. 27. 1071 5th Ave., New York.

JANET CARDIFF AND GEORGE BURES
MILLER The partners in art and life who call
Grindrod, BC, and Berlin home recently
participated in the Istanbul Biennial, where
they showed Sad Waltz and the Dancer who
couldn’t dance, an automated marionette
show that was by turns funny, pathetic and
moving. Here, another, more elaborate
marionette work from 2014 is featured,
packed into a small trailer. From Apr. 16.
Luhring Augustine, 531 W. 24th St., New York.

WOLFGANG TILLMANS This site-specific
exhibition, the artist’s first in Portugal, offers
a showcase for his “vertical landscapes,”
stunning minimalist photographs of, among
other things, the horizon line bathed in
otherworldly light. To Apr. 25. Fundação De
Serralves, R. Dom João de Castro 210, Porto.

THIS PLACE Twelve renowned photog-
raphers—among them Wendy Ewald, Jungjin
Lee, Jeff Wall and Thomas Struth—present
work relating to Israel and the West Bank,
going beyond familiar media depictions. To
June 5. Brooklyn Museum, 200 Eastern Pkwy.

Laura Poitras ANARCHIST: Power Spectrum Display of Doppler Tracks
from a Satellite (Intercepted May 27, 2009) 2016

LAURA POITRAS At press time, this
exhibition by the documentarian, journalist
and artist, most famous for her association
with Glenn Greenwald and Edward Snowden,
is already receiving coverage about its few
works containing classified images from the
Snowden archive. Call it hype, but the airing of
sensitive government documents within the
context of a major artworld exhibition feels
unprecedented. To May 1. Whitney Museum
of American Art, 99 Gansevoort St., New York.
