U116 is the second yacht built by Kleven for New Zealander Graeme Hart. She is 8.75m longer and almost
1,000GT bigger than the first Ulysses, allowing for a huge owner’s deck with a cabin, lounge, office, studio and a
large family lounge; and 10 guest cabins all on the main deck. She has a below deck cinema, an upper saloon
with pool, pinball and other games, and a swimming pool and spa, all of which Hart describes as “critically
important facilities” that are “pretty standard in luxury yachts but we have them with real elbow room”.

GRAEME HARTWhy did you commission
U116 before Ulysses had been
completed?
Initially because Kleven told me
they had a cancelled order and
asked me if I would like to fill the
slot, and I said “yeah sure”. But
the more important thing is that
this is a hobby for me. I love building
boats. I’ve done it all my life. I built
kayaks and runabouts when I was
young. They have just got a little
bit bigger. I enjoy the design and
the build process as much as
I enjoy using my yachts.
And what will the new boat have
that the first Ulysses doesn’t?
I always put seakeeping and
comfort at sea first and foremost,
but on this boat I’ve been able
to indulge myself in a number of
areas. We put the accommodation
on a new scale, including what will
probably be the two best VIPs yet
to go to sea. They are truly next
level. It’s all about building a serious
yacht with the luxury.
