  1. Digital Selective Calling (DSC): MM SI 002050480
Oostende Radio's DSC entry shows that the station keeps a Distress
and Safety watch on VHF Ch70 and MF 2187.5, 'H24' (24hours each

day). It also shows a 'Public Correspondence' (PC) calling facility on

VHF Ch70, and on MF (where vessels can use DSC to call on
2189.5kHz/listen 2177kHz). Vessels can use this routine DSC calling
facility to set-up a link call, without calling an operator direct on a
voice channel.

Public Correspondence 'Telex Over Radio' (TOR) services

Telex Over Radio (TOR) services, using your Marine SSB Radio
through Coast Radio Stations, uses different operating systems, and
different procedures, depending on the type of system installed on your
vessel/the Coast Radio Station(s) you send your messages through. The
two main types of PC 'SSB radio telex' service are:

TOR 'ARQ: communications through individual, independent Coast
Radio Stations (like that provided by Oostende Radio).

  • GlobeTOR and GlobeEmail communications, through networked
Coast Radio Stations forming the 'Globe Wireless Radiotelex Service'.
