12 One of the most significant XK120s in Australia, owned by the Cummins family, this the ex-Frank Lobb racer #660832.
13 The place is Browns Lane in early 1977, and the car is chassis #43, one of six factory prepared 1950 XK120s.
14 Another rare image showing the prototype 1935 S.S. 90 sports car - William Lyons' first genuine sports car. It is at Duxford
RAF base in 1941 owned by Spitfire pilot Hugh Kennard who sold the car two years later. After a visit to 'Silver City' Broken
Hill, he founded Silver City Airways in the UK, which Jaguar used to fly their Le Mans race cars to the event from 1955.
03 It's all about the earliest
XK120s, and this shows the only
three cars Jaguar had built when
it raced them at Silverstone in
1949 - and won. They include the
1948 London Show display car
and the highly publicised Jabbeke
record top speed demonstrator.
The repainted darker car is the
only RHD chassis then (chassis
#1 - London Show car), the white
car is the first LHD chassis and the
other which is partly hidden, is the
second. Both are RHD here and
different colours. RHD chassis #1
became the concept for the XK120
FHC, then it and 670002 were
scrapped. Jaguar sent the white
car to the US where it remains.
04 Everyone wanted an XK120,
and actor Clark Gable had at least
three. This is him at home in his
first '120 - controversially claimed
to be LHD #3. It is controversial
because it 'magically' was found
and restored by now defunct
specialist in the UK, JD Classics.
They had a reputation for 'finding'
and restoring missing famous or
significant cars. Regardless, this
was an early aluminium XK120.
08/09/10 XK120 LT1/2/3, was
the factory version of the XK120
constructed with a one piece alloy
body. They were built for the
1951 Le Mans race should the
C-Types not be ready. LTs were
not completed. LT2 and 3 were
despatched to the US. The red car
in 08 is a replica of LT2. The car
partially restored in 09 is LT1 in
- 10 Jaguar's Bob Berry got
the first car, MWK120 or LT1.
13
07 07 This is the most significant of the
three LT XK120s, and was owned
and restored by Jaguar and Ferrari
specialist David Cottingham in
England. It is LT1, the ex-Bob Berry
car, is at the Goodwood Revival about
ten years ago and is the most raced of
the three LTs.
