Point Hope Maritime

Projects over the last few months at Victoria’s Point

Hope Maritime have included extensive work on BC

Ferries’ 47 m klitsa, (ex Denman Queen, 1972, Vancouver

Shipyards) which included renewal of all public spaces,

all domestic water and sanitary systems, a full propulsion

and navigation equipment overhaul, and all coatings. The

24 m (80 ft) landing craft searoamer (excatherinegraham,

ex freeenterPrise II, 1954, S. Madill) was in for Transport

Canada inspections, which included tailshafts, rudders,

propellers and hull valves. There was some steel renewal

and full hull paint. The 34 m (113 ft) DigByislanDferry (ex

PrinceruPertairPortferry, 1970, Vancouver Shipyards)

was in for work including tailshaft, rudder, propeller and

hull valve inspections, steel superstructure and hull re-

pairs, and renewal of all exterior coatings (photo above).

The Pacific Pilotage Authority’s three local pilot boats had

their annual spring haulouts. The 39 m (128 ft) freezer

trawler northernalliance (ex frosti, 1990,

Stocznia Potnicina/Northern Shipyard,

Gdansk, Poland) received tailshaft seals

replacement and piping work, followed by

deck and hull coating renewal (photo be-

low). The 41 m (136 ft) uchuck III (ex YMS

123, 1942, Krause & Banks Shipbuilding)

had annual drydocking for hull repairs,

driveline work and coatings renewal. The

wooden coaster was a big draw at the

shipyard’s recent open house. Point Hope

Maritime expects to release some good

news soon regarding the building of a
