AS A RINGMASTER
Norman Barrett (UK) first became
master of ceremonies for Robert
Brothers Circus in the winter of
1956–57. He has been a master of
ceremonies at various circuses ever
since, and celebrated his 60th career
anniversary in the winter of 2016–17.
In 2010, Norman became an MBE, and
a year later he was inducted into the
International Circus Hall of Fame.

On 27 Sep 2016, April Choi (USA) whipped away four
blocks from a Jenga column in 60 sec in Peoria, Illinois,
USA. It proved to be an auspicious date for April... On the
same day, she achieved the most stock whip cracks
on a slackline in one minute, with 127, at Bradley Park
in Peoria. For this record, only audible volley cracks count

On 14 Jan 2016, Shemika Charles (TTO) limboed for 10 ft
2 in (3.1 m) below 12-in-high (30.48-cm) bars on CCTV –
Guinness World Records Special in Beijing, China.
The super-supple Shemika also holds the record for the
lowest limbo for a female – an astonishing 8.5 in (21.59 cm),
which she achieved on the set of Live! with Regis and Kelly
in New York City, USA, on 16 Sep 2010.MOST SKIPS OF A ROPE BY
A THREE-LEVEL HUMAN PYRAMID IN 30 SECONDS
On 7 Jan 2016, six students at Tagou Martial Arts School
(CHN) formed a human pyramid and skipped a rope 32 times
in half a minute without error. The coordinated display of
outstanding acrobatic agility and strength took place on
the set of CCTV – Guinness World Records Special in Beijing,
China. For this record attempt, Tagou went head-to-head
against Zhonghua Martial Arts School (CHN).
MOST BOTTLE CAPS REMOVED
WITH A WHIP IN ONE MINUTE
Adam Winrich (USA) whipped 12 caps from their bottles in
60 sec on the set of CCTV – Guinness World Records Special in
Beijing, China, on 12 Jan 2016. He has also achieved the most
bottles caught with a whip in one minute (18) and most
candles extinguished with a whip in one minute (102).

found that the loop of
the whip speeds up as it
travels along its length.

breaks the sound

It took Tang Hui (CHN) just
57.1 sec to cover a distance
of 10 m (32 ft 9.7 in) on
the tops of a row of glass
bottles on the set of CCTV- Guinness World Records
Special in Beijing, China,
on 12 Jan 2016. It’s no easy
feat to go the distance
without touching the floor,
and she only achieved the
record on her third and
final attempt.
