LITTLEBLUE BOOK
W
ith a state-of-the-art onboard private gym and the ultimate
playground for watersports just a dive away, a superyacht is
the perfect setting for those wishing to combine travel with
a little physical adventure. Fitness fanatics, or those just hoping to dip a
toe into the world of well-being, will find that the luxurious surrounds and
superlative facilities offered by Burgess’s charter vessels truly offer
something for everyone. Highly trained and motivated instructors are on
hand to help beginners get to grips with the wealth of water toys carried
by these yachts, such as inflatable kayaks, water skis and Seabobs, or to
teach a new activity like snorkelling or wakeboarding. Additionally, many
Burgess yachts are RYA-approved training centres for personal watercraft,
allowing guests to return home with a new skill – and a hobby for life.

THE ULTIMATE WORKOUT
From warm-up to cool down, Aquila offers
everything her guests need to test, tone and
de-stress their bodies. There is a fully equipped
gym, and a dedicated sports instructor can
guide participants through their routines or
design a bespoke fitness programme. This isn’t
just any gym, however, as captain Chris Russell
explains: “Our guests always comment on the
position of the gym in the stern of the yacht.
They have the option to exercise with the stern
door open for ocean views while working out.”
Aquila also has an onboard spa, as well as a
pool and Jacuzzi. A full range of treatments is
available, from deep tissue and hot stone
massages to tailor-made yoga classes “One of
our stewardesses is a fully qualified yoga
instructor,” says Captain Russell. “Over the
past few years we’ve seen a shift towards yoga
rather than a full gym workout. The guests love
doing yoga on the sundeck and having a
panoramic view of their chosen anchorage.”
Sundeck yoga is also popular on board the
equally well-equipped Nero, but perhaps the
most unusual sport she offers is one generally
considered to be land-based. “Our golf
platform is laid out on a deck where guests can
practise with biodegradable balls,” explains
Marcel Busse, Nero’s captain. “We place
obstacles in the water for them to aim at and
create competitions to make it interesting.”
