he’s smart, she’s sassy...and she’s in London for the OM
Yoga Show. New Yorker Tara Stiles, founder of Strala Yoga,
will be leading a couple of workshops on the final day of
the show, guiding students on a journey into softness,
relaxation and rejuvenation. OM caught up with her to find
out more.

What can people expect from you at the show this year?
I’m excited to see everyone at the OM show this year. I’m thinking
back to 2012, the first time I led a class at the show. So much has
grown and changed from everyone. A theme I’m simmering on
big time is softness. The practice of exploring softness through
movement in yoga and everything else. I love how great I feel when
I soften, how much I am able to accomplish, and how much better I
am able to connect with others. It’s not a new concept, but new to
yoga practice in our modern, busy times.

What’s the whole ethos behind Strala Yoga?
Strala is known for softness, ease, and prioritising how we move
ourselves, so we can connect better with others. We began leading
classes in [husband] Mike’s apartment 10 years ago with a simple
desire to create a space that is welcoming, drops the rigidity, dogma
and mysticism that can clutter and confuse direct experience. We
were craving a better way. Strala has evolved into a lovely global
community of leaders, and guides who practice moving well in
all they do. How we do one thing is how we do everything, so we
practice doing simple things with efficiency and ease. The principles
of movement come from eastern Asian traditions of tai chi and
