BEAUTYPlexr plasma skin tightening is a handheld device that uses
a focused microbeam of plasma energy to sublimate the superficial part
of the epidermis, to contract and tighten the skin fibres. It’s the perfect
blepharoplasty treatment – extremely effective on those cloaky skin folds
on the eyelids that can give your eyes a hooded appearance. No cutting,
burning or stitching, and most importantly, no scarring. As the skin heals,
tiny crustations about the size of a pinhead form, falling off after three to five
days and revealing brand new skin that’s a little red, before fading to pink and
blending into your skin tone as healing is completed.
AREAS TARGETED: Plexr can
be used to treat active acne,
acne scars, other scars, wrinkles,
keloids and skin pigmentation.
Eye bags and folds, smoker’s
lines, and skin lesions such as
warts, moles and age spots are
also treated with Plexr.
DOWNTIME: Any scabbing should
have come off after seven days.
Sun exposure is a no-no for
28 days after treatment, and
a mineral sunscreen of SPF50 or
above should be used on the area as the skin will be hypersensitive to any
light, not just sunlight. Liquid foundation can be applied from day two to
cover the treatment area should you wish to.
Mild swelling may be experienced for two to three days. Your doctor should
give you a complete post-treatment regime to deal with swelling, healing
and infection prevention.
SESSION DURATION: Around 30 minutes, although you need to arrive
earlier to have numbing cream applied to the treatment area.
SESSION COST: Depends on the size of the area being treated.
SESSIONS NEEDED: One or two, depending on degree of laxity in the skin
being treated.
END RESULT: Results are seen as early as two to four weeks following
treatment. The best way to describe the results, says Dr Melanie
Lambrechts of Centre of Wellness, is that the skin is taken back in time
by as many as 10 years. The effects are permanent in that your skin will
recommence ageing at the rate it did before – a factor that depends
greatly on genetics, skincare and sun exposure.

experience a slight tingling at first,
