PUTTING

A ‘flat face’ at address
You see a lot of different putting
postures on Tour so there’s
obviously no ‘one-size-suits-all’
solution. But one common theme
is the eyes directly above the
ball. This enables players to trace
the ball-to-target line accurately
and make aiming adjustments.
To do this effectively you need
to get what I call a ‘flat face’ at
address – your face as close to
horizontal as possible. So, when
you rotate your head to look up
and down the putt, your eyes can
accurately trace the line. If your
head is more tilted, when you
turn to look at the line of the
putt, you’ll get a distorted view.

When your eyes are directly over the ball and horizontal to the
ground you can accurately view the line of your putt.
