EMBRACING WATERCOLOR
“During my training at the art academy and in courses
with various artists, I experimented with an incredibly
wide range of diff erent art forms—drawing, etching,
woodcutting, and acrylic and watercolor painting,”
Memmler says. “Years of doing nude studies trained my
way of observing, and the study of art history has brought
me closer to the point of view of expressionism. No course
or experience was in vain; everything has left its mark.”
Ultimately, Memmler discovered that her deepest con-
nection came from the use of watercolor. “No other
medium can give me what it does,” she says.RIGHT
