Your Morning Routine Blueprint

If you don’t use Psalm 143:8, what will your God- time
anchor be?
Start Growing Your God Time
As important as it is to set your anchor, you also need to grow
in your knowledge of God’s Word and prayer.
One of my favorite morning habits is to write out part of a
book of the Bible in a simple spiral- bound notebook. It may sound
impressive, but some mornings it’s just one verse. Other mornings
it’s twenty. But I know that my mornings start with my Bible, my
spiral notebook, and my favorite pen. There’s something incredi-
bly cathartic about slowly writing out the Word of God.
I have terrible handwriting, so I write very intentionally,
concentrating on each word. The physical motion wakes me
up and gets my brain and body in sync, and the slowness of
writing, versus simply reading, forces me to think about the
passage and its meaning.
Rather than rushing through a reading of a passage or
trying to finish a certain Bible study section, I start my morn-
ing slowly and intentionally, and I build each day until I’ve
filled the worn, coffee- stained notebooks on my shelf with
handwritten books of the Bible. I love the gift I’ve created to
someday pass on to my children.
