my book isn’t about fencing, tractors, and how to keep
hogs off your land.
Wait. It just got worse. You know who’s louder than
elderly farmers? Friendly elderly farmers on cell phones.
I have a feeling that these folks would do just about
anything for one another. I imagine they’ve spent many
years meeting together on Saturday mornings. The sense
of community is truly tangible. And loud.
There is so much value in investing in relationships
and community.
- Long- distance group
The Hello Mornings group I’m a part of is made up
of one friend I see almost daily, another friend I see a few
times a month, and another friend I’m lucky to see every
few years because she lives overseas. But we are in one
another’s lives praying for each other, encouraging one
another, and spurring one another on.
There are so many ways to maintain real- life relation-
ships long distance. With FaceTime, Skype, Voxer,
WhatsApp, good old- fashioned phone calls, and myriad
other apps and options, all it takes is a little intention to
keep the lines of connection open.
- Online group
Sometimes we are in seasons or situations that don’t
allow for local or long- distance relationships. Sometimes
we need to find those who might understand our unique
situation in the online space.
This one can be sketchy. While building community
