OM Magazine
Issue 81, Febuary 2018
The power of love. Love, thy will be done. All
you need is love. Yep, the ‘L’ word must be the
most popular single theme in music through
the decades. All worthy tunes – and there are
countless more – but I’ll spare you the musical
odyssey right now (although in case you’re
wondering those hits were originally from
Jennifer Rush, Martika and The Beatles) and
get straight to the point.
It’s February, so with Valentine’s Day just
round the corner (mark it in your diary now,
fellas!), we thought we’d lavish you with love this month. Okay, so we’re
always pretty fond of you anyway, but this time we thought we’d really
explore the love theme and how it connects to yoga (see our special
report starting on page 50).
Find greater connection through tantra, have fun on the mat with
partner yoga or celebrate your love of all things chocolate by taking
part in a cacao ceremony.
This Valentine’s Day, it doesn’t matter if you’re with your best boy
or gal, there are always ways to experience more love and gratitude.
Share your infinite love with the world around you and, most of all,
don’t forget yourself...self-love is the starting point for every great
relationship, whether that’s with your beloved or your new pet pup.
Look up the ‘L’ word in the dictionary and you’ll find definitions
like ‘feelings of affection or pleasure’, but of course it’s much more
than that. When it hits hard, love is more like a presence, a warm
all-consuming feeling of joy that feels a bit like the universe has your
back. And it does.
This crazy little thing called love (stop me with the song titles,
please!) is something magical, perhaps one of the building blocks of
our very existence. And yoga is a great way to unearth more of it in
your life, whether that’s self-love and acceptance or finding deeper joy
in all your relationships with others.
Have an amazing month, folks.
