96 Prayers of Great Traditions
Free prayer, or...
I pray for my community and neighbours......
Father in Heaven, what is a human being without you!^317
I pray for my church and for the church of Jesus Christ in all places...
Lord Jesus Christ, it is to victory that you call us. You call us for strife,
but promise victory in the battle to which you have called us, great victor.
So then, preserve us we pray, as from all other errors so also from this;
that we do not imagine ourselves to be members of a church already
triumphant in this world. Be with your striving church so that it may it
never be blotted out from the earth by becoming a triumphant church.^318
I pray for all in authority and for the needs of the world......
You who are the Father of all, let yourself be found with a good gift for
each person as they need it; that the joyful may find courage to receive
your good gifts, that the grieving may find courage to receive your
perfect gifts. For to us there is a difference in these things, the difference
between joy and sorrow. For you, Lord, there is no difference in these
things; everything that comes from you is a good and perfect gift.^319
Conclusion
Though others despise me, Lord, you do not abandon me;
let me live and better myself. Amen.^320

Preparation
Where should we turn, if not to you, Lord Jesus Christ? Where
can the sufferer find consolation, if not in you? Yes, and where the
penitent, if not with you, Lord Jesus Christ?^321
