VILOMA I:


INTERRUPTED INHALATIONS


Vi means negation or against. Loma means hair or grain. So, viloma
means against the grain. This pranayama pauses ujjayi breath on the
inhale once or twice.


Benefi ts


This heightens breath awareness and improves breath control. It also
emphasizes the power of taking in or receiving.


Exercise



  • Inhale for two counts.

  • Pause for two counts.

  • Inhale for two more counts to the top of the lungs.

  • Exhale for four counts, emptying the lungs.

  • Repeat for 10 rounds, activating the ujjayi breath.
