Add cutaway layer

First drag a clip into the

timeline, then place a second cutaway

layer above the first. Trim the start

and end of the clips so that they have

exactly the same duration. They’re

now running on parallel video layers.

Mix the clips

When clips are layered, a Video

Overlay icon will appear above the

viewer. Click on this to fine–tune the

look of the layered clips. Drag Opacity

to mix the clips together. Drag Fade

so the cutaway fades in and out.

Combine three clips

Choose File > Share > File. Set

Quality to Best (ProRes), then click

Next to create a movie. Choose File >

Import Media and pick the mixed movie.

Add this movie to the timeline, and mix

it again with a new cutaway layer.
