Step 19: Create a new layer above
the Curves adjustment layer called
“Text Color Tint.” Go to Select >
Reselect to create the same selection
as before. Set the Foreground color
to an amethyst color (#9924ab), and
fill the selection by pressing Option-
Delete (PC: Alt-Backspace). Set the
layer’s blend mode to Soft Light. Press
Command-D (PC: Ctrl-D) to deselect.

Step 20: Click here to download
the Adobe Stock image of the
scratched texture. Drag the texture
from the Libraries panel into the
working file, and scale it to cover
the text area before committing
the transformation. Set the blend-
ing mode to Screen to render the
black areas invisible.
The way the stock image was
created, the scratches are black,
but we want them to be white, so
go to Image >Adjustments >Invert
to make the scratches dark and the
background white. Command-click
(PC: Ctrl-click) on the Text Color
Tint layer thumbnail to select the
text again, and click on the Add
Layer Mask icon (circle in a square)
at the bottom of the Layers panel to
use the selection as a layer mask to
contain the texture to just the text.
