Just in time!
I was looking through previous
magazines for a new quick stitch
to do when issue 262 arrived.
These cheeky elves are ideal!
My main project at present is
a Christmas gift for my daughter,
so it has to be tidied away ever y
day before school finishes. As you
can see, the first elf is finished and
the second one is nearly done, too!
Sarah Scott, Pulborough
Alison says: I’m so glad these
arrived just as you needed them.
They’re looking great, Sarah!

Small celebration
Thank you for supplying stitchers with such
beautiful card designs! I stitched this pretty
beach hut for a friend who celebrated a ver y
special birthday recently. She didn’t want
much of a fuss or anything over the milestone
age. She lives on the east coast and loves
beach huts, so this design was just perfect
for her. Thank you again for an amazing
publication and keep up the good work!
Sarah White, Nottingham
Katie says: Thank you for sharing your
stitching and your kind words, Sarah!

Made to

measure

I would like to share my latest
project with you – a 60 th
birthday stitch for my friend
Willy. When I make something
for someone else, I start by
finding the right frame – then
I know how wide my stitching
should be! The 60 is from a copy of
365 Cross Stitch and the fair y is from
Ultimate Cross Stitch Fairies. The fairy was originally looking the
other way, but I wanted her in the right corner. So, I placed
a mirror on the pattern, took a picture of the reflection and worked
from that. The fair y was part of the Z in an alphabet. I made her
dress and backstitch lines green so she would be a forest fairy.
My friend loved it and I hope you do, too!
Anja Koote, Holland

Alison says: We do, Anja! What a charming and thoughtful finish.
I love the idea of using a mirror and camera to quickly flip a design.

The golden girls
I thought you might like to see my
latest project. After seeing the Cross
Stitch The Golden Girls book in issue
258, I bought it and stitched four
pieces for my daughter and her three
friends. They have called themselves
the golden girls since they all turned
60 last year. They all met 50 years
ago, when they started secondar y
school. They’ve been there for each
other through thick and thin and I’m
so proud of them. I thought you might
like to see the photo of ‘the golden
girls’ with their cross stitch pictures.
They had a get-together last night to
celebrate their 50 years together.
Sylvia Sanderson, Stanley
Lou says: What fitting stitches for such
a wonderful group of friends, Sylvia.
