3 I applied the watercolour wet
on dry and suggested the form of
the various areas by building up the
depth of colour and adding more
texture with brushstrokes. When
working in this way try to avoid
working within the line. Break the
paint over it or keep it within and
varied. Leaving areas of white paper
can also add to its freshness and
give a spontaneous feel.

directly with line using a thicker
permanent felt pen. Due to its
direct application without pencil
guidelines it appears freer and
more spontaneous in style.
