- Sew a strip unit from Step 9 to each end of an embroidery unit from
Step 4. Repeat to make a total of four middle border units. - Referring to the Quilt Assembly Diagram sew two units from Step 10 to the
sides of the center unit from Step 7. - Sew two green check middle border corners from Step 4 to each end of a unit
from Step 10 to make the top middle border. Repeat to make the bottom middle
border. - Sew the top and bottom middle border units from Step 12 to the quilt center
from Step 11. - Sew two 2½" x 20½" blue stripe outer border strips to the sides of the quilt
center from Step 13. - Sew two 2½" purple floral squares to each end of a 2½" x 20½" blue stripe
outer border strip to make a top outer border. Repeat to make the bottom outer
border. - Sew the two units from Step 15 to the quilt center from Step 14 to complete
the quilt center. - Sandwich the quilt top, batting and backing; baste. Quilt as desired then bind.
- Gail chose to hand quilt her sample using ecru size 8 perle cotton thread.
She quilted a cross in the center beige square, wavy lines in the red floral inner
border and down the two outer narrow green strips in the middle border. She
stitched straight lines down both edges of the center middle border green strips.
She quilted a cross in the light green check squares and again used a wavy line to
quilt the blue outer borders.
