Melted wax was applied with a brush to a wood panel
in thin layers. Each layer was fused to the previous one,
using a heat gun or blow torCh, which also smoothed
the wax. It was then incised with dental tools and found
items- ravioli cutter. bottle cap- impressed into the
warm wax. The entire piece was then heavily slathered
with a burnt umber oil stick, which was then rubbed off,
leaving some in the crevices.131
