Creative Paint Workshop for Mixed-Media Artists

(ff) #1

All acrylic mediums are adhesive and can be used to glue
collage. The heavier the collage item, the thicker the me-
dium should be. Regular matte medium is ideal for all but
the thickest papers and fabrics, whereas heavy card and
small objects will need to be stuck down with heavy gel or
extra-heavy gel. A paste called YES! is ideal, too, for gluing
thicker papers and card that you want to ensure will lie
flat. Be aware that the wetter the medium, the more likely
it is to affect the fibers in your thinner collage papers,
causing them to wrinkle and crease, You may like this effect
or you may prefer to avoid it.

All acrylic mediums can be mixed with acrylic paints to
change their consistency or to extend them.
