tobea partofit.ididn’tgetmuchopportunityto
exploreassam’scapital,though,asweleftearlydoors
ina convoyofCivicsandCR-Vsandifoundmyself
firmlyperchedbehindthewheeloftheformer.
we hada waystogothatday,ourdestination:the
river-islanddistrictofMajuli.thehighwayleadingout
ofguwahati was gorgeous to begin with, allowing me
to put the hammer down, exploiting the performance
characteristics of the Civic and starting the drive out at
a steadypace.Majuliisa massiveriverislandinthe
Brahmaputraandgettingthererequiresyoutotakea
ferrytoreachit.theapproachroadtotheferrywas
kindoftight,though,anddidn’tofferthesmoothest
surfaceeither.so,theCivic’ssuspensiongota pretty
strongworkoutalongthisparticularstretchand,
needlesstosay,it proveduptothetask.we soon
arrived at the ferry and onwards to Majuli for the night.V
