Car India – August 2019

(ff) #1
The following day we headed out to Pasighat and I
had the keys to the CR-V SUV instead. Good thing,
too, because not 10 minutes after we left Dibrugarh the
road surface started to deteriorate. The CR-V’s
impressive ground clearance really came to the fore
here and despite driving the petrol variant with the
CVT and 2WD, I had no trouble traversing this
deteriorated tarmac until we hit the highway. Getting
into Arunachal Pradesh requires an Inner-Line Permit,
so after a short delay to sort out the paperwork, we
arrived in the hills and headed for our lunch spot. After
a quick meal nestled in the heart of nature, we visited
the Ranaghat Bridge, which took 20 years to make and
offers a mindbogglingly beautiful view of the Siang
River. After absorbing the scenic beauty here, we
headed to our stop for the night: Dibrugarh. Assam is
considered one of the hotspotsfor
rock music in India and wegot
a taste of that when we
checked into the hotel as a
local band covered some
of the most iconic tunes
