This set of metal parts is aimed at the Academy Panther G that was released last year, but in fact the set would work equally well with any of the

1:35 late Panther kits that have been released over the years. This set from DEF includes two sheets of etched brass, providing a plethora of tiny

detail parts including the rear stowage bins, the engine deck screens, and many stowage details. The set also includes etched steel side skirt plates,

plus brass tube for the cleaning rod holder. Finally, there are four tiny brass tubes to add to the stowage racks as a piece of additional detail.

The instructions for this set are in the form of several large sheets with clear photographs, showing the exact positioning of each part, and

how to fold any parts. The instructions are often a weakness with aftermarket sets, but in this case they are a very good feature. This set will

be a great addition to the Academy kit, or indeed to any late production Panther. CLS

With฀the฀arrival฀of฀plastic฀1:35฀kits฀of฀the฀early-war฀British฀Cruiser฀tanks,฀the฀A9฀

and฀A10,฀it฀is฀timely฀that฀Friulmodel฀have฀released฀outstanding฀tracks฀for฀these฀

kits, to replace the plastic tracks provided. The Friul tracks consist of two parts

per link, namely the main link with one connector in place, plus a tiny separate

connector฀for฀the฀other฀side.฀I’m฀not฀sure฀about฀the฀Bronco฀kits,฀but฀the฀Gecko฀

kits of these tanks have three parts per link. The Friul tracks assemble very easily,

but฀tweezers฀might฀be฀useful฀to฀handle฀the฀tiny฀connectors,฀plus฀good฀lighting฀to฀

identify the square part of the connector, and the square hole in the link!

While the kit parts are entirely adequate, the Friul tracks do have several

advantages. The detailing is superb, and the inner guide horns are very slightly

thinner, giving a sense of finesse with the parts. In addition, the Friul tracks,

being white metal, can provide a

real metallic appearance on worn

surfaces, which is more difficult to

obtain with plastic tracks. The Friul

tracks can easily be made workable,

and฀fit฀perfectly฀on฀the฀new฀Bronco฀

or Gecko kits, and even the older

Cromwell฀resin฀kits฀that฀might฀be฀in฀
