COLTS
In 2012 the Colts took Stanford QB Andrew Luck with
the first pick in the draft. No offense to the Indianapolis
front office, but that pick was pretty easy to make. A far
more impressive move was trading up in the third round
to take T.Y. Hilton, an undersized receiver from Florida
International. Since draft day, those two players have
made life miserable for opposing defenses. Last year,
the 5' 10" Hilton had his fifth 1,000-yard season and
was eighth in the league with 16.7 yards per reception.
The Colts had the fifth-highest-scoring offense in the
league—and it will only improve this season with the
addition of WR Devin Funchess (549 yards receiving with
the Panthers).
Last year Indy lost five of its first six games, giving up an
average of 30.0 points. Then the defense rallied, holding
opponents to 16.4 points as the Colts won nine of their
last 10. If the D, which is led by LB Darius Leonard (the
2018 Defensive Rookie of the Year), can play like that
all season, the Colts will challenge in the NFL’s most
wide-open division.
