When training camp began in July,
Jalen Ramsey made quite an arrival.
The cornerback showed up in an
armored truck (he’s hoping for a raise),
and he had a hype man declare that
Ramsey was going to have a prison
built where he would keep opposing
receivers on “lockdown.”
Ramsey is the brashest corner in
the NFL, but he also might be the best.
Last season, his third in the league, he
made his second straight Pro Bowl
and was a rare bright spot for the Jags.
Jacksonville’s problem wasn’t its
defense, which was fifth in yards
allowed. It was an offense that
scored the second-fewest points in
the league. QB Blake Bortles was
released after the season—just a year
after signing a three-year, $54 million
extension. To replace him, the Jags
signed former Super Bowl MVP
Nick Foles of the Eagles.
This roster is very similar to the one
that got Jacksonville within a game of
the Super Bowl two years ago. Now it
has a QB with a history of postseason
magic—making the Jags a potentially
scary team.
