BEZELED RING
AND BUTTON
- Using E6000, glue a wooden
ring to the center of the beading
foundation. Allow the glue to dry. - Tie an overhand knot at the end
of 2 yd. (1.8 m) of thread. Sew up
through the foundation, exiting
near the outer edge of the wooden
ring. Using 11 0 cylinder beads,
work a round of beaded backstitch
around the circumference of the
wooden ring, making sure to use an
even number of beads and taking
care that the beads don’t slip under
the ring (photo a). If possible, use
a multiple of four, but if that won’t
work, then use a multiple of two
instead. These beads will become
the first two rounds of peyote when
the next round is added. - Pick up a cylinder, skip the next
cylinder in the ring, and sew
through the following cylinder
(photo b). Working in tubular
peyote stitch, repeat this stitch
around the ring, stepping up
through the first cylinder added
in this round (photo c). This
completes round 3.
4) Continuing in tubular peyote,
work three more rounds with
cylinders for a total of six rounds
(photo d), and then work one more
round with color A 15 0 seed beads
(photo e). Pull snug so the bead-
work cups the ring, and exit a cyl-
inder in the last round of cylinders.
5) Sew through the adjacent cylin-
der — it will be in the fifth round
of cylinders and will be directly
below an A. Pick up a 5 mm crystal
lochrosen and an A, sew back
through the lochrosen, and continue
