Werner Wings

I

n the decal section you
will ind a review of
Werner Wings sheet for the
Kittyhawk UH-1, at the same
time Werner Wings have also
released a whole selection of
resin upfgrade sets for this
kit. The most essentail is UH-
1D/H correction set, despite
Floyd Werner’s involvement in
Kittyhawk’s project a number
of errors have appeared in the
kit. Thes includes an incorrect
transmission area which also
had some nasty injection
marks as well as missing detail

in the cockpit and roof of the
cargo bay. Finally you also get
representations of two of the
three aerodynamic strakes
missing from the kit as well
as a selection of aerials.
The other sets all supply
details for items added to the
type during its long service
including the up turned
sugar scoop added to delect
the heat from the exhaust
upwards to defeat launched
anti aircraft missiles.

CONCLUSION
If you want to make the
Kittyhawk Huey as accurate as
possible you really neec to add

the upgrade set as a minimum
and then other sets depending
on the time period of your model.
The instructiuons as always are
superb combining clear text
with pictures of the real aircraft
and kit to make sure you know
exactly where everything its.
Our thanks to Floyd
Werner of Werner Wings for
the review samples, which
can all be purchased from

Rescue Models

T

his is the second batch of
accessories we received
from Rescue Models at
ModellBrno in June. Last month
I mentioned that the company
specialises in the very small
scales and do mean small like
1/350 scale. But now they are
expanding into the bigger scales
like the ever popular 1/72 scale.
This month we have intakes
for the Special Hobby P-40,
this is a lovely casting which
will certainly enhance what is
already a nice kit. While the
second set supplies the wheels
for the Sword U-125A and this
set has a very nice extra in the
shape of a set of masks for the
wheels, which is a real bonus.

1/72 SCALE
72003 P-40 intake for P-40D, E, K, M,
N (for Special Hobby kit)
72004 U-125A wheel set (for Sword kit)

CONCLUSION
These sets certainly look good,
with their high quality packaging
and superb castings. Last month
I was so impressed with the 1/350
Soviet carrier deck tow tractors.
And since then I have now treated
myself to a set of Trumpeter
1/350 scale navel Frogfoots, so
a little build will follow soon.
Our thanks to Rescue Models
for supplying these sets for
review. For further details on
these sets and others available

Airscale

W

hen Airix released their
1/24 scale Grumman
Hellcat I was hoping
that Airscale might produce
an upgrade for it and barely a
month after release here it is.
This set is divided into two
items we start with the sixteen-
piece etched Nickel Silver which
replaces the kit’s moulded
detail on the instrument panel,
central console and both left
and right sided wall panels. New
instrument dials are supplied
a part of the decal sheet as are
seventeen placards which will
supply a level of detail impossible
with just a brush alone.

PE24 CAT GRUMMAN F6F HELLCAT
INSTRUMENT PANEL UPGRADE
Designed for: Airfix

CONCLUSION
The highest accolade I can
give, is to say it is essential
and considering the scale of
the cockpit and the major
improvement this set will supply
I can say that I consider this set
an essential addition for anyone
building the Airix Hellcat.
Our thanks to of Airscale
for the review sample, which
can be purchased from their
website at http://www.airscale.co.uk.
