grandma was so excited to tell
her that I was her granddaugh-
ter, not just Summer Newman.
It was just the cutest thing see-
ing my grandma’s friends so
excited to meet me.”
First Fan Event: “I
was super-nervous to meet
fans [at a fan club dinner in
2013], worried if they would
like me or not. I sat with
Melissa. She’s always been like a big
sister to me. We had so much fun meeting
all the fans and seeing how excited they
were and wanting to talk about storyline
and what stuff they loved seeing. I loved
getting to talk to them.”
First On-Screen Kiss: “That
was with Max [Ehrich, ex-Fenmore].
Most of the time you don’t kiss in
rehearsal, but he kissed me in rehearsal
and I was so taken aback. I was like,
‘We didn’t do that at HOLLYWOOD
HEIGHTS!’ But it took away a little bit
of the nerves [in front of the camera]
because we already did it. I was like,
‘Okay, we got this.’ ”
First Daytime Emmy
Nomination: “I remember being
up the night before waiting [in 2013],
biting my nails and being so incredibly
hopeful. When I found out, I freaked. I
was so excited. I think I had pancakes to
celebrate and then my friend took me to
Johnny Rockets and we celebrated, too.
Always food.”
First Wedding: “[Summer’s 2014
wedding to Austin] was so fun, but it was
nerve-wracking walking down the aisle
because you’ve got to walk so slow. Itmight look like a good pace on TV, but
just know, it is so slow in person. They
have to get a lot of reaction shots. You’ve
got to really milk it. All eyes are on you
and if you look any of your cast members
in the eye, you’re going to laugh and
you’re going to make them laugh. And
your dress is making those swish, swish
sounds with every step, so it’s not quiet
and you just feel awkward. I love group
scenes. It might be a little bit longer of a
day, but it’s so much fun getting to work
with everybody. I’m always the person
who will bring snacks to set and pass
them around in between takes.”S
