Pole position
The long box from which the awning swings out lies flat on
the roof and has a lid on top with a clip on each end. The box
has hinges on the left corner of the hull, and when you want
to deploy the tent, you’ll need to swing the box onto its side
so that the lid is aligned with the hull. The box lifts up easily as
there are gasstrutsthathelp– they also keep it all in place after
ff the lid – remember, you’ll
n extra pair of hands to help.

The 220 V electrical outlet and USB sockets are in a panel to the
right of the door. The main switch for the lights and a switch for the
battery charger are also on this panel.
There are two closets for your clothes – one above the other – at
the top end of the bed, each with a canvas flap that zips shut. The
interior light is of the LED type and is fixed above the top end.
At either side of the mattress is a space wider than your hand –
this is where you can stow all those loose items you’ll want near
you when you go to bed. Considering the size of this caravan, this
is a luxury as there’s often no storage space near the bed in your
average tiny caravan.
The Tonga has three windows in each side panel, but they can’t
be opened. Enough fresh air comes from the tent’s side, though.
