he LTO Tracker 2, from Leupold, builds off the com-
pany’s successful LTO Tracker thermal optic, with the
addition of a recalibration mode that makes the device
in nitely more usable in thicker (and warmer) brush. In
what the company calls Beacon Mode, the temperature
threshold is re-balanced to subdue neutral background
items and vegetation, while illuminating anything warmer
in bright color(s). In addition to three color modes for
use with this Beacon setting—Hi Black, Hi White and
Hi/Lo Green—the Tracker 2 has three standard colormodes—Black, White and Green.
More than just a close-range tool, the
LTO Tracker 2 boasts 7X digital zoom,
with a detection distance of 600 yds.
(though Leupold says the typical deer detec-
tion distance is around 250 yds.) from its 206x156
thermal sensor. Zoomed to 1.5X, the Tracker 2’s eld
of view is 16.9 degrees, while the 1.22" display itself has
