Stopping power comes by way of Wilwood, with six-pot
calipers, 310mm rotors, and pads up front, and single-
pot calipers, 280mm rotors, and pads down back
have a T3/T4 huffer bolted on and a MicroTech ECU installed. To
ensure that it wouldn’t go bang thanks to the high-compression
ratio, the entire package was ripped from the bay; the bottom end
was forged with Wiseco pistons and Eagle H-beam rods, while
the head was ported, polished, and treated to a pair of Type R
camshafts.
Having combined VTEC with a touch of boost, Allan explains
that a visit to the likes of Autosalon Christchurch led to the show car
bug biting him hard, and, as he puts it, “You’ve gotta go balls deep
if you’re jumping in that pool.”
DVI0US’s first appearance at Autosalon in 2003 was a big
shake-up to the regular faces on the show circuit. Here was a
Lambo-doored turbo Civic with an engine bay dripping with quality
components, a Buddy Club bodykit, and a full interior to boot, that
had come out of the woodworks of Timaru with next-to-no warning
— it was even displayed on the pages of this very publication. Taking
home a gaggle of awards, including a King of Autosalon nomination,
That’s a Sick Body Kit, Heroic Honda, and Wicked Interior, it also
dominated the dyno challenge, which was judged based on
kilowatts per litre, meaning that the 240kW (151kW per litre) it was
cranking out from 1.6 litres was a lethal package to top.
