Fight the fuzz
Whatever your budget, we’ve got
the hair-removal heroes you need
for touchably smooth pins.
%POCKET MONEY
For a last-minute legs-out situation,
a speedy shave is the obvious route.
Gillette Venus & Olay Sugarberry
Razor, £11.55, delivers silky-smooth
skin and the shave bar contains
a special glossing ingredient.
%DEBIT CARD
For larger areas like the legs, wax
is the way to go. Veet EasyWax
Sensitive Electrical Roll-On Kit,
£29.99, is as close to a salon
treatment as you can get and results
last a few weeks. Roll the warm wax
in the direction of the hair, smooth
a strip over the top then pull back in
the opposite direction. Do moisturise
24 hours prior to hair removal.
%CREDIT CARD
When something pulls your hair
kicking and screaming from its follicle,
it’s going to be somewhat painful but
epilating is speedy, and can remove
hairs as short as a grain of sand.
Braun Silk-Epil 9 SensoSmart,
£209.99, goes a little way to make
the experience more comfortable
with a light signal that lets you know
when you’re pushing too hard.

Is fascia the

key to a cure?

Remember those connective tissues
we were talking about? This net-like
structure, a bit like internal cling film,
is known as the fascia. It’s largely
made up of collagen fibres, and wraps
around our muscles and organs to
protect nerves and blood vessels.
Experts believe an unhealthy fascia
could be linked to cellulite, as the
pockets of fat protrude from beneath
the cobweb-like connective tissues.
Age, genetics and hormonal changes
all contribute to a weakened, distorted
fascia but regular massage can help
repair and strengthen this layer so that
dimples look less apparent. Here are
some fascia-kneading solutions...
The Ashley Black FasciaBlaster, £89,
amazon.co.uk, delves deep into muscle
tissue with claw-like appendages to
jump-start the body’s natural healing
process and restore the fascia.
Legology Cellu-Lite Salon Secret for
Legs, £55, cultbeauty.co.uk, flushes
water retention with detoxifying
juniper, rosemary and grapefruit oils
so legs feel uplifted. Plays very nicely
with fascia-massaging devices.
Homedics Smoothee Cellulite
Vacuum Massager, £109.99,
homedics.co.uk, encourages deep
drainage, stimulates circulation and
relaxes fascial tension to reduce
the appearance of cellulite with
a vacuum massage action.

Just add moisture
The right lotion can transform your
pins from lacklustre to leg lustre. Apply
immediately post-shower, while skin
is still slightly damp, and your skin will
slurp it up a lot more efficiently.
%YOU HAVE DRY SKIN
Aveeno Skin Relief Nourishing Lotion,
£5.99, is designed for legs that appear
cracked. It gives immediate relief for
itchy, tight-feeling skin and keeps on
moisturising for 24 hours.
%YOU HAVE HEAVY LEGS
Mrs White’s Legs Eleven, £15,
victoriahealth.com, revives flagging,
swollen limbs with a refreshing shot
of vodka – which offers a light-as-
air feeling as it evaporates, all the
while treating dry skin with beeswax
and cocoa butter.
%YOU HAVE ROUGH SKIN
Ameliorate Transforming Body
Lotion, £22.50, lookfantastic.com,
gently sloughs dead cells while
moisturising to minimise pesky
little bumps, ingrown hairs and
general roughness.

Super soak
Legs feeling tired, swollen and puffy?
Next time you run a bath, add two
cups of Dr Teal’s Pure Epsom Salt,
£7.99, to warm water and soak for at
least 20 minutes. The salts draw out
toxins and impurities from the body
to ease water retention so you’ll feel
lighter and more streamlined. And
let’s face it, an indulgent soak in
warm water is a tonic in itself for
aching muscles and a busy mind.
